2010 Elegance DRL

Recommended Posts

Hi. I recently bought a 2010 Superb Elegance 2.0 TDI 140hp DSG

It seems that I have the fog light housing without the DRL sockets on the side of the foglights. Does anybody have a step by step guide on how to put them in and wire it all so it would seem "original"? :-)

Sorry for wrong terms or bad english. Not my first language.

Also my first post, so I don't really know if anyone has posted this already, tried to search for it, but didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Briskoda!

The upgraded light clusters will be a straight swap, the fitment is the same.

They are available from Superskoda but check with your local Skoda retailer first as they may be cheaper when sourced locally...

The question is if your car has the option to select seperate DRL's using VCDS. If so then you will need to find someone with VCDS who can access your cars electrical system and select DRL's. I believe most members on here are based in the UK but try searching for fellow Norweigen members here...

VCDS is a piece of software and cable that allows a laptop computer to be plugged into the diagnostics port under your cars dashboard. If you wish you can buy it for yourself here but it is expensive if you won't have further uses for it...

If not then you still have options. There are so many aftermarket DRL kits available on the market now that there are several wiring kits that allow you to wire them up yourself to a live ignition feed / light switch so that they operate as the factory fitted DRL's would work. They are available everywhere. A quick search on eBay found lots and lots. This one looks to have the correct plugs so it really would be a simple fit...

Either way I'd want to go for the original Skoda look.

If all else is lost then you can get good quality aftermarket kits (like the one from Philips, they do several) but they look obviously retrofitted which wouldn't be an option for me...

Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the reply.

I can first say that the Philips aftermarket ones are a big no-no :-)

In my Maxidot (?) I have the DRL option listed. Can that mean that the wiring is ready to use?

Nevertheless, I will try to get in touch with someone (or buy it for myself) with VCDS.

I have found a webpage here in Norway that has two Superbs I can buy parts from (getting chopped).

I would prefer that the ones i fit to my car both looks and acts like original from factory :-)

If you have the option to turn on/off the DRL's in Maxidot then this feature on cars without dedicated DRL's utilises the dipped headlights at reduced output for the DRL function instead.

This doesn't necessarily mean that if you fit the dedicated DRL/fog light clusters that you'll be able to activate them simply by recoding using VCDS.

The best thing to do really is get the car plugged in and see what options you have for DRL's.

You'll likely have the option to use the front fog lights at reduced output (as on the Octavia) and if you are lucky there will be the option to select dedicated DRL's but I doubt it.

If not then a good auto electrician will be able to wire them up for you easily enough.

Thank you for the reply. Since there are no users around me that can help me with VCDS (checked the map on this forum), I thought I might buy it and try for myself. Do you know if this is hard to learn to use? :-)

Welcome Kriglo!

How u finding the Superb?

Any pics?

 Thank you very much.

In my personal opinion I think the Superb is a really comfortable and a good car. I'm very happy with my purchase. :-)

No pictures yet, unfortunately. Will take some, and post them in a couple of days :-)
