MFSW with cruise control?

Featured Replies

Does anyone here know, if you can get a steering wheel with buttons for the cruise control, for the Octavia o3?

Cruise control is provided by commands on the stalk, not by the steering wheel.

I realize that is how it is now, but I figured, since it is possible in a VW, it might also be possible in a Skoda :-)

What VWs have steering wheel cc controls? Only ones I've seen are either on indicator stalk (e.g. Golf, Jetta) or on its own dedicated stalk (e.g. Passat).

Golf mk7 have ACC controls on steering wheel. However I prefer the dedicated ACC stalk on the octy.

Current Golf brochure is confusing. On p40 shows cc controls on identical stalk to O3, but on p48 it says controls are on the MFSW! Are they in both places?

I think it depends on whether you have standard or adaptive cruise.

Personally, I dislike cruise controls on the indicator stalk (but not enough to pay for ACC). I find them to be unintuitive and it reminds me too much of the awful GM switches of the 90s.

Is it possible to take an ACC stalk and program the system so it works with standard cruise? Yes. Will it be easy and affordable? Probably not.

in the Golf, Standard cruise is on the indicator stalk , ACC is on the wheel. O3 is the same for standard cruise but extra stalk for ACC rather than the wheel. Having driven both O3 and Golf 7, I much prefer the O3 wheel. It is simpler and less angled away towards the top of the buttons. It wasn't comfortable accessing the top buttons on the Golf. The extra stalk is much nicer to use to tweak your speed and distance and much easier to cancel too. Just my opinion. If you can afford/justify it I would really recommend ACC over standard cruise it is very clever.

Actually, what I really liked about the Golf was, that you could add 5 km/t to the speed with just one press. Compared to pressing and holding the button on the stalk?

With ACC stalk on O3 you can do just that too. Up and down for +/- 5. Pull to +1 and press Set button to -1.

On mainland Europe it is +/- 10 kmh. Does anyone know if it can be changed with VCDS?

It's 5mph here in UK, so not far off 10 km/h . Couldn't say on VCDS.
