Car is a 2011 Octavia 2.0 TSI vRS. Just have a question about coil packs - I recently bought these from awesomegti;

Noticed that the brand is ECS Tuning after fitting them. Doing some research I found that the VW/Audi OEM R8 coil packs are part number 06E905115E and cheapest I can get a set of 4 is £139.80 on eBay.

 

Just wondered other than price would there be a major difference in using OEM rather than the ECS tuning ones or are they pretty much identical?

I bought a set in a group buy from (I presume) ECS and they came in a VW box with the partno you describe.  GBP140 sounds expensive as I paid AUD140 delivered and the forex is AUD2=GBP1 at the moment.

 

Search the partno & they can be had for USD21 plus shipping so I'm not sure why your cheapest option is GBP140?????

 

BTW: They aren't hugely better than the stockers

The ones I got wasn't in a VW box and also isn't stamped with the OEM VW/Audi info which is what made me wonder really.

Yeah true, I meant to buy them from a UK seller £140 ia the cheapest, can get the from the states for $21 + shipping.

 

Main reason I was wondering if the OEM ones are better is because I was round a friends house when fitting them (he's a VW group roadside assistance person) and said the OEM ones has been revised a few times and looks like a better design than the one's I got - from the pictures online though they look identical so was just wondering really.

They are identical, just branded as ecs.

They should have the vw part number on somewhere. The red tops are the latest revision I think, that's what are on mine after I had one fail.
