Heating problem

Featured Replies

Please advise!

I have 2006 Ctavia 1.9tdi. Now in winter no hot air while standing. When I drive that car, hot air is comming.

What could be the problem if its heat only if engine rpm is about 2000 and more?

Thermostat stuck open?

As you may know, the heating - in my UK spec car at least  - is not brilliant.

There have been a few answers before about the servos for the vents not working properly.  There is a procedure for re-synchronising them.

A search may turn it up if no one else chips in with more info.

Thank you for answers! Im not shure about thermostat couse engines temperature is great, everything is fine.

I have experienced this issue in other manufacture vehicles, particularly Ford, it has always turned out to be low water level or an air lock which the pump cannot overcome on tickover but when the engine is revved it has enough ooommff to push the water around the system. Have you had it serviced of late were it is likely the water/antifreeze has been drained/changed and they/you have not followed the correct procedure to refill the system ???  Check the web for correct refilling process or to see if there is a air vent release valve within the system as some have these fitted due to pipe layout not being shall we say optimal.

Also meant to say my Octi takes forever to warm up but does blow hot eventually when stood at tickover but thats a good 10-15 mins after startup.

Best of luck.

When the engine is running and up to temperature take the cap of the expansion bottle (very carefully!) and check that coolant is flowing in through the small pipe.

One thing to note is that the temperature gauge will show exactly 90° even though the actual coolant temperature can vary between 80 and 100°.
