Thanks

I bought an old set of Audi RS4 9 spoke 17" alloys from ebay for my winter tyres. There are lots about and pretty cheap.

There are lots of wheels across the VAG range that will fit.  You need to make sure that they have a PCD of 5x112 and a centre bore of 57.1mm (larger centre bores can be reduced using spigot rings).  You then need to make sure that the offset will be OK - standard Yeti alloy wheels are ET45, but a few mm either way shouldn't give any problems, especially as you'll probably be using a narrower tyre than standard any way.  You can see the effect different offset and tyre size will have by comparing the wheel/tyres on www.willtheyfit.com

Sixteen inch wheels are popular for winter wheels as the tyres will be cheaper and there is more sidewall in case you do end up sliding into a kerb or hit any nasty potholes.  You will probably find a decent set of secondhand alloys cheaper than a new set of steel wheels.

Try looking for wheels from the following;

Audi - A3 (not mk1), TT (not mk1), A4, A5, A6

SEAT - Leon (not mk1), Toledo (not mk1), Altea, Exeo

Skoda - Octavia (not mk1), Superb, Yeti (obviously!)

VW - Golf/Jetta/Touran (mk5 onwards), Tiguan, EOS, Passat (any with 5 stud wheels)

Watch out that some 5 stud VAG wheels are 5x100 not 5x112, so won't fit
