Start-stop - can it be enabled/retro-fitted on a CR170 ?

Featured Replies

Hi all

While looking through various pages on partscat, I notice a few parts have variants for cars fitted with stop-start.

Examples being alternator and starter motor.

Does anyone know what the differences are between CR170s with & without stop-start ?

I wonder if the majority of the bits are already there, and aside from changing the above, whether it's a case of coding certain controllers.

Different alternator.

Different starter motor.

Different wiring loom.

Probably different ECU.

Different keys?

Also Different battery,  and g.o.k. how many sensors etc.

its got a CU for battery management along with a different battery, its gets readings about engine temp, ambient temp and wont operate if for say the rear heated screen is on but not sure where it actually gets the data from.

I had stop start on my 140 DSG Tiguan and have to say I didn't like it and pleased it doen't appear to be on the new 140 DSG Yeti I have just ordered.

I found waiting to get out of a road junction, or onto a roundabout, the start up delay seemed too long.... about two seconds. I used to disable it ever time I went out.

In my wife's Pug 2008 the restart is instantaneous whereas on the Tiguan you head the starter motor work for a couple of seconds before lift-off.

I suppose it might have been a fault on my Tiguan
