Engine feels like its missing at/between 1500 - 1900 RPM, but clears after

Featured Replies

Small issue just started in the last couple of hours of drive, noticed the engine (2.0TDi PD+DPF) seemed/felt to be lumpy and missing a cylinder from around 1500rpm through to 1900-2000rpm.... on a light throttle but if I push through or in other words accelerate more it seems to clear but straight back when back in range... Still pulls like a train on acceleration just got this issue at those revs which of course is right in the usual around town driving.

Any thoughts folks... Injector ?   -    leak ?   -    Other ?

thankss

UPDATE.... went for a drive to visit relitives and on route the DPF warning light cam on I immediately ran the car in 3rd gear keeping revs at around 3k and light went out after about 2 miles.... and misfire / lumpyness has gone ?? so maybe an advance warning for the future, first time I've had the car go through a standard auto regen whilst driving.

I had a split in the boost pipe coming out from the turbo which gave me a similar hesitation, then it split big time and limp mode ensued.

Also I had a similar hesitation when the differential pressure sensor on the DPF went pear shaped, but I got a warning light just after it started doing this.

I assume you have a BMM engine like mine.

With a regen you only need keep the revs above 2k, so 6th gear at 70 is sufficient.

My 2.0 PD170 needed a lower gear to clear the DPF light.

I assume the airflow at higher speeds was cooling the DPF. 50mph in fourth cleared the light after a few miles.

Thanks for your comments etc, noce to hear of other peoples experiences with regard to DPF etc , all this tech is new to me although I've been driving diesels for 20yrs plus.  Not having had a DPF before how often does yours flash up and need a passive regen.... I had an issue when I bought the car my DPF had failed a regen and I had to put it onto VCDS to force a regen and we wondered if it would come back as it stated it was at 75%... my friend with vcds said he had never seen one that bad or even come back but it did, eventually with a few applications of cleaner and a hard drive up to M4... on that ocassion it took around 4 miles for it to complete its regen, Yesterday was around a mile or so and light went out quickly (oh and the missing went after a few more miles).

I've only had the light on once in 2 years. This was after being stuck in traffic in Nottingham for an hour.

My normal commute is 20 miles with 15 of that on NSL dual carriageways, so just about perfect for the DPF.
