VCDS capabilities?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying a VCDS cable and software to use on my Octavia mkII.

My question is:

Can this setup do all the magic of a dealer box of tricks e.g. Purge the ABS pump after a bad brake bleed?

If you do your own car maintenance it seems like a handy piece of kit.

VCDSis a very capable tool and I have found it will do everything the main deaer tool will do, I also have a 2012 version of Vas 5054a which is the old dealer tool, I much prefer to use Vcds. You can run the abs pump with VCDS but I find pressure bleeding better.

I did pressure bleed the system with an Eezibleed but unfortunately the container fell over whilst I was working on the rears and I didn't notice until it was too late and air had been forced into the system.

I've put litres of fluid through since and cannot get a firm pedal, more concerning is that the pedal occasionally feels wooden and sinks to the floor without much braking effect, perhaps master cylinder issues.

It's possible the seal in the master cylinder may have turned over.
