Air Duct

Featured Replies

Does anybody know how the air duct (part no. 1Z0121285D) comes out?

It is the horizontal plastic part that runs over top of the radiator pack and sort of beneath the bonnet release. There are two torx screws in the centre but these don't appear to release it. Does something else need to come off as well?

You'll see from the attached picture that my intake has self destructed and broken off the plastic securing tabs to the above part, hence the need for replacement.

The tabs on mine broke when I was working on it in sub zero temperatures, old and brittle.

I just drilled small holes above where the tabs used to be in the upper part and secured it to the bottom part with zip ties.

It's nothing critical in the way of leaks, being upstream of the filter, it just channels cool air in and by way of a swirl design loses dust in the process, just check how often the filter is recommended to be changed and/or check how clean it is in comparison to other cars you've owned.

thanks steve ive been needing this part number as mine is missing :)

No problem!

Yep mines been lost too!

I do have the part number somewhere as i have had to order few due to the fact I kept losing them.

Here is a general question.

Although i have a TDI ive noticed that my intake pipes to the Airbox are about as a good fit and air tight as a D in a windsock, they are loose and they really dont fit together very well until the airbox and afterwards.

Would it be beneficial to get them all secure and sealed so that they dont lose some of the air that is scooped up as you drive?

Or is the suck from the Turbo adequate enough to compensate for the losses?

With regard to part numbers guys i have found skodaparts.com to be very helpfull looking for part numbers and parts that they dont list. Just email them and they will give you the cost the part number etc  etc
