engine cut out whilst driving

2001 octavia vrs

Hi all. Driving home on friday and lost all power. Pulled into bus stop and car pretty much stalled and wont start since. Alarm constantly going off so thought that might be the cause from alarm/immobiliser Got fault code 17925. Auto electrics guy came today and disarmed alarm and immobiliser incase it was that but car wont even tick over. Anybody have this problem before??? Feeling this could end up expensive. Fuel pump still primes as you can hear it when turn key. Tried bump starting but that was only time car sounded like it wanted to try to fire but nothing. Tried jump leads but not even ticking

So i'm probably looking at a blown ECU

Cheers guys. Is there a way of checking relays or is it just a case of replacing them?

All fuses checked and ok. Replaced relay 428 and battery but car just turns over but does not fire up. Still getting fault codes relating to ecu relay so im guessing next plan is swap ECU...... how do I go about changing ECU how do I get the codes for the second hand ECU???? And if mine is dead how can I pull codes from it?

I thought the fuel pump relay was 409.

Have you checked that you are getting the appropriate voltages for the relay at the socket before going for an ecu?.

It is possible that the relay may not be energising due to loss of one of the voltage supplies.

Also, if the relay is energising correctly, are you getting the ecu supply voltage at the ecu multiplug terminal?

Pauldazzle..... fuel pump is priming and you can also smell the petrol in engine bay after attemping to start car many times....

Kentphil1..... had auto electrician out and he put his voltage meter around car and everything was fine even relay harness things. Only thing not checked was ecu plugs

I think you need to check you are getting voltage at the ecu plug before you get another, as you may be wasting a lot of money when it could be a dodgy connection. When was the last time you cleaned out the area under the wipers?, as you may have lost the ecu earth as it lives under there.
