How to fit newer type of dsg gear stick.. Help please

Featured Replies

I've brought the newer dsg gear stick for my 2011 plate vrs. I've come to fit it but mine is a metal rod and the new one has a thin plastic rod.

Any help on this?

A few months ago I asked the question on how to fit a MKIII DSG selector to my 2012 car.  The answers I received all agreed that it was very difficult.  A pity as I much prefer the look of the latest version.

Will the new gaiter (leather?) fit your car's central console aperature or do you need to use the original gaiter or modify one of them?

I've checked the part number and it looks ok on the pictures. The rest of it fits. It's just the rods which is different but the plastic newer one doesn't look very strong

Mine too :)

no vRS on my wheel either.......

mine is a 2013 and one of the first facelift models, they must have added the vRS logo's soon after .... I know my pre update 2010 model had vRS logos....

I'd just check they have given you the right one ant.... I would take a pick of mine to show you, but am without a computer at the moment, new one should arrive today or tomorow, so I will post up pics then!

what i thought, facelifts just say DSG,

My facelift does feel a little better than my brothers pre facelift

If the old one has a side release knob and the newer one has the front release knob, than there is a way to get it installed.

But you will have to be a bit brave! The inner release plastic thing has to be turned 90°. This can be done by carefully heating the plastic and turning the top (with the eye) over 90° till it wont return in its original position.

A lot of Audi A6 members did it, to be able to install the newer face lift knob (or from the new RS6).

But the risk of ripping it of will always be there (and than it will be very expensive).

I like my stick as it is, thank you very much ;):D
