Oil change warning

Featured Replies

Have had my car for around 7 months now and have the first oil and filter service booked in for the end of the month. I have done approx 8600 miles in it now but had the oil change warning pop up today to be done in 600 miles. Surely this is an odd figure for it to be done around the 9200k mark. I thought it would be set for 10k. I am not on variable servicing by the way.

Edit: ignore me, found the answer (because it is set at 15000km)., sorry :-(

I believe for fixed they are based on 15,000km but actually in the UK we do them at 10,000 miles.

Yep, the official intervals are based on Km's (15k oil and 30k major) and not miles so upon a fresh reset the 10k service shows approx 9.4k miles and the 20k something like 18.6k miles.

Dealers here are happy for you just to wait out until 10k or 20k miles though you can just go and get them serviced when it says so if you prefer.

I had my first fixed service at just over 10k (i do a few miles and couldnt get it booked in before or to coincide with the 10k clock-over) and dealership and SUK had no issues with it and honoured the servicing plan.
