Windscreen scratched

Featured Replies

Argh....!!!! i had a load of bird crap on my winscreen, i tired the washer jets and wipers didnt work...so my numpty of a friend *FEMAIL* decided to get a plastic bag and scrub it off, how ever that didnt work much it took some off. got back to mine to wash it right off, and then there was this nasty swirls of scratches on the screen how the hell does plastic magege to damage a windscreen, and it being glass too :( i dont kno wat to do...HELP!! what can i use?, dam it as well she left the door open and the wind cought it and slammed it into another wing mirror so i got a nice black streek on my B pillar :( argh not my day...gotta drive around with a naff windscreen now

 Sounds like you're havin' a bloody rough time with a lady with regards to your car...

I remember a time I had parked my car right next to a big water tank to supervise a concert mix for a local band, and my girl was with me. I parked (it was an extremely windy day)...she opened the door and the wind blew with a good big band straight onto the edge of the water tank...had a big dent on the B-pillar until a few weeks ago which I got repaired for free...was pist off about it with her though, she kept apologizing but my mood just shot down like an anti-tank missile...

Maybe it ain't scratched up man, try using some petroleum on it, the windscreen doesn't scratch that easy at all unless that piece of **** was stuck to it like glue...

True, I've only scratched the screens of my cars twice - once when a rock the size of an apple struck a glancing blow on the screen of my old Citroen. Not direct enough of a hit to crack the glass, but enough to scratch the surface. In a kind of similar way, I have two scratches just above the rear wash/wipe spindle on my back screen from when my (faulty) bike rack + two bikes collapsed.

So it sounds unlikely to me that she's done lasting damage. It's possible that she was pressing hard enough to smear some of the bag's plastic onto the screen, hence the swirls. In which case, petrol will work like Mil says, although some of your lady-friend's nail polish remover would be safer - it's the least she can do in return!

Needless to say, be careful of your paintwork whatever you do! And if you do get any solvent on it, rinse off plenty of with soapy water...

I shall now stop trying to teach you to suck eggs! ;)

If my bird **** on my car like that, I wouldn't even take her out again mate.....

I'm sure girl feels bad about it man.

But like Martin said...break it and then call your insurance company...:D That should get it replaced easy...

It wouldn't have been the plastic that scratched it , but some grit or something in the sh** that was being ground against the glass

will do thanks Gooch :)

Damn Women! dropping girl from college home other day... gets out the car wacking door against concrete post..... scuffed it... right where I'd just had it back from bodyshop after a respray

Id say just a good glass cleaner should do it.. sounds to me more like very thin layer of plastic is on the the screen, not actually scratches.
