Got my quote back today on a new estate

Featured Replies

Nice too see you are sorted. I am looking at the Fabia estate for 2 reasons, its an Estate ! And its far better looking than the hatch ! I simply want the extra room the estate gives so what ever the deal on a vw of similar size its out because it does not fulfill the primary role i need it for.

  • Hang on.   Top of the range Fabia estate, options, high mileage, very low deposit = high monthly payments.   Didn't think you would end up paying £5.99 per month did you???

  • This is all very interesting and informative BUT having spent ages researching the options for replacing my wife's 4-year old Audi A1 with a small car with loads of luggage space (seats up or seats do

  • I have had a drive of one, it does not sound like a tractor.   I have to say, there is a whole lot of people on here determined to poo-poo a positive opinion of a vehicle, without actually listening

For 19K you could have a brand new Focus ST2, scirocco, astra VXR, Peugeot RCZ, 1 series all for the same price range as that Fabia?

I know its blasphemy....but I'd probably take a chance on a Focus ST2. :peek:

It just goes to show that everyone's different circumstances and criteria can vastly affect the deals available.

The other manufacturers that interested me could not get close to Skoda's offer for my part ex, so the Fabia estate was by far the best offer on the table.

Some of the offers for my car were £3,000 less than I achieved, so for me it was a no brainer.

snip.....

The list on my Fabia may have been £19,620, but with a discount on that plus free 3 yr servicing, free 4th yr warranty, free paint protection, free rubber mats and rubber boot liner, and an offer worth £1,400 more for my part-ex, for me it was a no brainer.

over £19000, that is Octavia pricing territory, silly for a fabia to be priced in that sort of area,

you expect a bit of overlap with adjacent ranges, but 3 ranges (fabia > rapid > Octavia ) seems to show something is wrong with skoda UK pricing

Has the Seat Ibiza Sports Tourer (estate) not been mentioned?

Is the Fabia MkIII now a much bigger car, ruling out the Seat as an alternative?

In typical Seat fashion, as the runt of the VAG empire (much like Skoda used to be) then I'd imagine prices would be quite attractive?

I nearly bought an Ibiza FR Sport Tourer before tha Fabia but the interior let it down a bit, the dashboard and entertainment/info systems look very dated now and at the time the payments would have been a bit more so I went for my Monte Tech.

The prices are very cheap now and PCP deals are very good at my local Seat dealer but it's due to be replaced in 2016 I think so I doubt the residuals will be any good come the end of the line.

Whlist going up to look at the new Hyundai i10 Premium SE that has been ordered and should arrive in a few weeks i went past a Skoda dealer who happen to have a new Fabia estate in white with DSG .... Very nice in the flesh and in white it looks lovely, given its a no cost option this could be the colour i would go for, there were others (not estates) in some metallic colours but the white estate just stood out. Thats the one, it will come down to prices at the time and if by then Skoda are offering deals/discounts.

the i20 has white as the only no cost option,

but I have a bad history with white cars and the wife won't let me have one anymore

so I have a passion red metallic i20

for me skoda seem fixated on a large boot (which don't get me wrong is a nice to have) but they compromise the passenger space to achieve it

the rapid has it, Octavia has it and now the fabia

I was considering the new i20 and i have seen the one in the deep metallic red colour but i also want an auto.... more specifically an auto box that adds not much to the CO2 output for tax and one that is as good with MPG as a manual, so the old 4sp auto in the Hyundai's is just not up to the job, thats another reason for the Fabia... DSG.

this is the point of this forum,

some of us may change to another manufacturer but we can still compare notes and discuss things in a civilised manner, both good and bad points of different models and manufacturers

for me if you could put VAG engines and gearboxes in the Hyundai cars bingo, best of both worlds :)

Totally agree, the i20 is a great car but the transmissions and engines just need to be addressed and modernised. The spec level of the top of the range is unreal !

They've had to load them with kit to overcome the weak drivetrains, once the new 1.0l lump arrives they'll be a serious proposition but alas, still no estate version so no good for me :(

The equivalent Octavia (1.6tdi elegance dsg estate) is £23,680, still £4k more, and that's before options.

Not exactly the same ballpark.

if you look at the kit on the SE L and compare it to the Octavia S they are not to far apart, comparing a fabia SE L to a Octavia elegance is apples and pumpkins not apples and pears

It looks as though the Octavia has indeed turned into a Pumpkin.

I have just spec'd the 's' level Octavia with everything I have on the Fabia.

It came out at £22,774.

There is no option for Climate control

There is no option for Rear electric windows.

You need to go up to 'se' spec at least to achieve that

The 's' level is over £3,000 more for a lesser vehicle spec wise.

Rear electric windows would be about £200ish if available

Climate would be £400ish if available

That makes £3,600 difference on just the things I have noticed quickly - therefore I stand by my previous statement.

You will get a far superior discount on an Octavia though which will significantly narrow that gap ;-)

Got a decent discount on the Fabia too, as I didn't pay £19,620, that was just the list price.

I also got a decent discount on my Fabia SEL Estate (11.5%).

This thread started me off on thinking about new metal in the near future.

I'm hankering after the new 1.8 Polo GTI and several dealers have made offers just over £16000 for the 5 door model PLUS the £1000 deposit contribution from VW. 42 months at £230 with £500 deposit from me. That is less than I was paying on Fabia vRS 4 years ago.

don't be in to much of a rush, I get the feeling there might be some offers or improved spec later in the year to try and boost sales

maybe 0% pcp will be back

the offers etc change every quarter, so I think 1st april will be the next change as we go into q2

That's a silly bargain. Can't get near that using the car brokers... They're all £18k including the £1000

I'm happy with this advice - I won't be buying just yet anyway, maybe until after Christmas anyway so the neg-equity in the current PCP has damped down significantly.

DO you know much of VW promotional habits? How often they turn-around etc etc?

The offers I received from dealers via carwow were indeed far better than anything I found on the lease sites and drive the deal etc.

It's weird, I've had 'okay' quotes for a BlueGt - about £16k for a 3 door with £500 of extras. But a GTI for the same price is very tempting! Just a shame it's not as economical!

I clapped my eyes on the new GTI after being tempting towards VW by looking at the Blue GT. Considering the GTI has most of the spec I want from base, rather than adding the privacy glass and posh lights (LEDs standard on the GTI) and particularly getting rid of the nasty part-white (dirt magnet) seating fabric you're nearly in the same price bracket, so yes it really is heart over head ie: consumption vs smiles. The Blue GT has only ever got lukewarm so-so reviews whereas the GTI is getting so damn good write-ups, only bettered by the Fiesta ST at the moment. And I wouldn't be seen dead in a Ford.
