Removing door lock barrel, help please

Featured Replies

Finally got round to trying to swap out my drivers door lock mech for a used one because of the old microswitch problem. Stripped the door, located the retaining screw and barrel in the end of the door, uundid them, the barrel started to slide out a few mil but no further and wouldn't budge. I didn't want to drop the small retaining screw so just as it was about to pop out I screwed it back in an 1/8 of a turn. Should still be lose enough shouldn't it? I tried turning the key, no joy. Tripped up by a simple step, slightly annoyed are the words I'd use. Seen a few guides, looks dead easy, just not happening, any thoughts?

wigglewigglewiggle.... :)

seriously, that's the answer...I removed mine few months ago and was a bit difficult to slide out,but after good shake,it was out

Cool, cheers, more persistence is the answer then. Might try the key up and down. Problem was I didn't want to be stuck in the dark with a half built door so had to put it back together. Will try again in the morning.
