Seized front caliper?

Featured Replies

Front drivers side caliper seized on while driving down the motorway. Stinks of burning brakes and is red hot. Going to change both pads and discs and obviously a new caliper as it's seized. The car is a 2005 2.0tdi elegance. Is it worth changing the passenger side caliper aswell withe car being 10 years old and having new front pads and discs?

If it were mine i would do the lot , do it once and forget it.

That's what I was thinking with it being 10 years old and putting new pads and discs on anyway

Ive just replaced my n/s/f caliper as it started binding badly, was fine one day then binding badly the next  :o the piston was badly corroded,i only replaced the n/s as they didnt have a o/s in stock & needed my car back on the road asap,i will change the o/s once ive got my house move out the way(its fine at the moment, not binding),if i was you i would change both calipers.

The cars been in my local garage and he confirmed the caliper was at fault, but weirdly the pads and discs still looked like new even though I've never changed them in the 2 years that I've owned the car. I was quote 340 quid to replace both discs, pads, and both calipers. Which I didn't think was a bad price?
