In short yes just buy a paddleshift steering wheel like the one I got from Skoda dop for £287 delivered (hope that they don't mix up the cables) and fitting will take about 15-20 mins then get somebody with VCDS to code it for you.

Could you please post the part numbers for your new steering wheel and the correct airbug wiring/loom/connector?

Thanks Chunk thats great. If like DGW asks you could post the part numbers that would also be good.

Also on a slightly different subject, I noticed in your signature you have HHC and XDS enabled(don`t know what XDS is but it sounds good). Is that simply another vcds piece of wizardry

Okay gents with regards to the steering wheel I do not know the part number but below is the link to how I ended up ordering mine from Skoda dop.

As you can see in the link the steering wheel comes with everything you need. It appears to be a genuine mistake that mine came with the wrong loom.

A little Google search as to what XDS is:

The XDS electronic differential lock is an extension of the familiar EDL function. However, XDS responds not to loss of traction but to the unloading of the front wheel on the inside of the corner when cornering fast. XDS applies pressure from the ESP hydraulics to the inside wheel to prevent it from spinning. This improves traction and reduces the tendency to understeer. The level of pressure applied ranges from approximately 5 to 15 bar. The impression when driving is similar to that of a limited-slip differential in toned-down form. The precise, one-sided build-up of brake pressure makes cornering even sportier, quicker and more accurate.

Chris, I think the steering wheel you ordered is the one in the link below rather than the link you mentioned earlier. The latter is an Octavia II RS wheel with red stitching whereas the one in my link has white stitching. The Skoda part number is 5E0 419 091 J MBJ. I can't find it on ETKA but there are plenty of mentions of it on the web. Skodateile don't appear to have it whereas it is available for pre-order from Skodadop.
