Mk1 Fabia Vrs gearbox... Modified...

Featured Replies

I've got a spare gearbox I was planning on fitting to my car, it came from a 2005 fabia vrs with about 90k miles.

It's the standard 6 speed box but essentially has a LSD fitted. The Diff has been welded up so both front wheels will turn on sync... (So it is a Lock Diff not a Limited Slip Diff)

Although it can be known as abit of a bodge mod, it was done by a professional who builds, tunes and races rally cars and a professional who builds and repairs gearboxs all day everyday for a living, It is a permanent fix!

Due to other reasons I've never got round to fitting it and now returning the car to standard.

Anybody interested in it?

Edited for clarity, there is a huge difference between a Lock diff and a LSD

Isnt that bad on a fwd car? And only good for drifting rwd?

Glws

Cheers w8 sounds like its something more for track so not much use to me :-(

Thanks for the link, I know very little about them. I was advised to do it and took their word for it!

So it has a welded diff and not an LSD?

That's correct, yeah.

If you do have a quick look at the link posted above you will see the advantages / disadvantages to having one.

How much are you after?? Been thinking about welding my diff.. But not too sire how it will turn in.. Thanks

Would want about £400 for it.

Jesus christ are you on drugs?!

No, I'm afraid I don't indulge in that.

Allow me to check eBay etc for a rough price guide on these gearboxes.

£350 seems more than reasonable.

Humour me and let me know your offer :D

Basically its a butchered box!.. I fail to see how its going to be worth more than a perfectly

Good standard gearbox?.. just want to try it.. If its no good put my standard box back in lol..

It's a perfectly fine and working gearbox but with a modified diff. If someone wants better traction and similar results to having a £900 LSD at a fraction of the cost, this is ideal.

Good luck with yours anyway.

No diff has serious implications for the handling of the car in all situations. It's not something you'd usually see on a road car.

Wet/greasy roundabout and no diff implies carnage!

If you drive according to the handling characteristics if the car then you will be fine. If you drive like you've stolen it then you won't.

Everyone would have issues in greasy roundabouts in their Fabia.

I can see the thought of having this has upset a few people, I'll just keep it in the garage :D
