FL Octavia Boot mat

Featured Replies

OK, this could be a bit of a daft question but as I'm very new to Skoda I hope you might all be willing to cut me a bit of slack.

Having got my mk2 hatchback at the weekend I'm thinking a boot mat might not be a bad idea. I've done a search on boot mats/liners on the forum etc and it seems to be more folk with estates going for them which I can understand. My question though is what is the difference between an estate boot mat and hatchback one? Is the floor not the same on both?

I've tried googling and looking at images to see if I can see any differences but not sure I can. Is someone able to show me/let me know the difference?

Sorry if this is just a daft thing to ask.

Yes there is a big difference in boot sizes. I do recommended buying a genuine mat so that you get a really good fit.

some estates have raised false floor so the mat for the ones without raised floor doesn't quite fit perfectly and there are holes for the anchor points

Some hatches have raised boot floor too. Plastic boot dish will work fine with it but rubber boot mat and carpet may tend to droop at the sides where the boot recesses are.

The plastic bootliners have different part numbers for estate and hatch.

The hatch doesn't have the restraining eyes (4 off) in the boot like the estate.

I've got a hatch one for sale in the classifieds if you're interested

Not a daft thing to ask at all!

As others have said, the hatch and estate are different fitting.  I can thoroughly recommend the Autoform plastic bootliners (you can get them from The Roofbox Company among others), both our (estate) Octy's have them and so did my previous Octy.  Once you've had one in the boot and seen how it keeps the car clean, is easy to take in and out and can have the crud tipped off and given a wash you'll not be without one!

Kind Regards

Ian

I can confirm that the boot floor between the hatch and estate is a slightly different shape, although not by much.

I have both an estate and hatch and have the genuine Skoda boot liner in each - I can recommend the genuine (but suitably expensive) boot liner.

As JRW has one for sale I'd go for it.

If you want brand new...

I know how good boot mats are as my Dad has one in his estate. I agree that jrw's one would be ideal but having had a couple of messages between him his mat has a raised edge which I'm not wishing. Granted having the raised edge would be ideal for spillages etc but for some of the things I'll carry in the boot I really need the mat to go into the cubby areas too so that they are kept clean too.

From what I've read/seen I know that some cubby hole areas are raised etc and Skoda wouldn't be able to produce mats for all variations of floors but when it is virtually flat then I would have thought having the mat protect the cubby areas too would have been ideal. As I say I'm new to Skoda so just trying to get my head around a new manufacturer and their way of doing things etc.

Have seen a mat on ebay which doesn't look too bad and can be cut to suit and looks like it'll protect the cubby hole areas which looks like it could do the job. As it doesn't cost a fortune if it falls to pieces after a couple of years its no biggie.

definitely get one they are a must
