car finally gone in for work! classic skoda for the meantime

Featured Replies

Today my vrs has finally had s quote back on the new engine. Need a new turbo and a full new base engine. Does that sound about right to you guys? These are prices with them having me engine being discounted.

Engine - £2795

Turbo - £794

Labour - £1200

All together the quite is for £6235 or there abouts of which I have to pay 20% - thoughts on that?

Now to the fun part. Me and a few friends have decided to buy a skoda feLicia. Just over 50000 miles, currently trecking from Wales to Scotland. Only cost £200. Thinking I should bring it along to castle combe ;). At least she's not burning oil...yet!

Why do you have to pay 20% of the bill?

Which Warranty Company is it you are covered by for only 80%, or is it a Maximum Spend limit?

(Even if the Warranty Company get a Discount from VW on the Engine it comes with a 2 Year Warranty,

as does the Turbo.)

How does it get to £6,235?

£4789 plus VAT = £5,746.80,

what is the extra £488.20 for, a Courtesy Car, Fluids, other parts ?

Have fun in Scotland.

Skoda have offered good will of 80%.

Apparently for all other bits and pieces. I also think they're taking me for a ride but I've asked to speak to the guy who'll be doing the engine, I wanna know exactly what's being changed and how much.

What was the reason why you needed this work doing in the first place?

Is that not obvious?

It was a CAVE Engine out of Warranty & a Oil User.

No need to pay 20% with a Goodwill Gesture from Skoda / VW.  the engine was faulty while in Warranty,

as they well know.

If this is Skoda Paying and a Skoda Dealer Doing the work,

then the Quote is wrong, too high, taking the pith actually.

Did you ever get a Solicitors advice?

I didn't no, I bought the car second hand from a ford garage which lead me to believe 80% was a fair contribution from them. Do you advise I go down the solicitors route or continue with the work? Skoda are paying and it is a skoda dealer doing the work!

Do you have any sort of idea for what sort of price the parts should Be!

There are several members here that have the Invoices for the work done on their cars,

including replacement Cats & Turbos.

They might want to share the Part Costs & Labour.

20 Hours labour is ridiculous if it is 20 hours @ £60 plus VAT.

Up to you what you do, but i think you should have a Solicitor Communicating with Skoda UK Customer Services,

& then you could charge them for the Specialist Motor Engineers Report and Legal Expenses.

VW know the Part, Manufacturing & Design faults, as do Skoda, Seat & Audi.

I've been quoted about 13 hours work for ridiculous price per hour.

The only thing I'm worried about in regards to getting a solicitor is that I don't get 100% and have to pay solicitor fees Also?

I'll try get some receipts off people.

Another thing I'm worried about is that this drags out longer and the car fails all together!

Many Solicitors give a no charge first meeting, and will tell you not to pursue something.

These posts always come up on Fridays,

but hopefully someone at Milton Keynes will see this thread before Monday.

Who is the  Skoda UK Customer Services Manager dealing with your case.?

John Good and others should be ashamed.

& as for Alasdair Stewart Skoda UK Brand Director, he is unbelievable in letting these sagas drag on.

all the best with it.

Maybe somebody can PM you Invoice details and costs.

PS

Crazy weather in parts of Scotland,

? Where are you heading?
