Vnt problems?

Featured Replies

Hi all, bought a new cartridge and it turned up today, fitted it all in my turbo housing and put it back on and it doesn't seem to boost properly and cuts if you carry on going up the revs.

Could I have not got the vnt rod bit for actuator not in it's slot properly or would the housings not go back together properly? As they went together fine.

I've got vcds lite so I will plug it in tomorrow and see if I've got any fault codes but it's very slow compared to it was and won't go to 4k, probably not even 3k Tbf.

Oh also something else I thought I'd mention, the car seems louder now as well, as in you can hear the exhaust more now than what you could before.

Thanks,

Plugged it in and got these codes. I've cleared them though and gone for a drive and they haven't come back and it's doing the same thing. Getting a bit of black smoke out the back as well.

Black smoke usually indicates over-fuelling.

  1. Check that you've re-assembled the turbo-intercooler-manifold pipework correctly with no leaks.
  2. VNT may be stuck in a "low boost" position, particularly if the smoke clears at higher revs and you get decent power once the car's "wound up".

do proper boost logs and basic settings test for boost pressure control and post them here so we can see what is going on there...
