Yeti 1.2tsi

Featured Replies

I've been given this 64 plate to use whilst my Rapid Sport is in for warranty work.

Very nice car. First time I've ever driven a Yeti. It's certainly changed my thoughts on one for sure.

My Rapid also has a 1.2tsi engine but it's nowhere near as responsive as the Yeti. The Yeti is a far more powerful delivery. Strange as both identical engines. Why is that?

I've had it a week now and it's a great place to be except the old tech 1.2 fuel consumption just like my Rapid (biggest downfall )

Another problem is that it doesn't fit in my garage either so the Citigo is in there temporary until the Rapid comes back (if ever it does).

Just some small thoughts of mine of a useless thread. Apologies for that but I'm quite impressed with it [emoji4]

What engine code is your Rapid is it cbzb? Or cbza?

Could your Rapid have the 86 rather than the 105 engine? That would account for the difference in performance.

It's a CBZB engine.

They only made the Rapid Sport in a 105 bhp.

The Yeti is certainly a powerful one. It's a great drive for a big heavy car [emoji106]

Yes it's a great engine. I normally get about 36mpg winter and 38/39mpg summer which isn't bad IMO.

Newer tech engines won't be much better unless they are the lower power ones.

Manufacturers claimed mpg figures are way off the mark, look at the abysmal Ford one litre actual figures versus claimed. A great engine but typically you get about 20mpg less than manufacturers claimed.

Different gear/final drive ratios?

Fred

I am averaging 41 MPG (fill to fill basis over life of car) in a mix of local, rural some urban and some motorway. I am not a boy racer type but certainly am up there with the flow of traffic. Best I have achieved was 45MPG and worst 34MPG on a high speed motorway dash into a howling gale of a head wind! Mine has the DSG box which is great and has seven gears so speed is more accurately matched to conditions.
