Skoda Non Skoda Major Service Approx £100

Featured Replies

My local Skoda dealer is offering the following;

http://www.parks.uk.com/skoda/servicing-and-parts-offers/economy-care/

From what I can gather the Gold Service is very similar to a Skoda Major Service (stand fast on the pollen filter!);

http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/national-pricing/servicing

From what the Service Manager has told me the only main differences would be they would use non-VAG parts, but it would still be Skoda mechanics working on the car, I'd still get Skoda Parks stamp in the Service Book, and I would have to pay for a pollen filter.

I am more than happy to get a Gold Service, my only concern is that I may be missing out on something that would be conducted on the Skoda Minor/Major Service. I don't expect to get the Skoda updates included in that price, what would be a reasonable amount for them to charge if there was any? My understanding is that the only variation on Scout servicing over other Octavias is the Haldex Oil change, is there anything Scout specific that is carried out on a Minor or Mahor Service that I am unaware of, that I should ensure is carried out?

Don't worry, I will forego the complimentary wash and vacuum!

Many thanks

Am I reading this right, a Skoda franchised dealer is offering to service a Skoda using non-genuine parts!?

And in addition to this they'll still stamp the service book with a Skoda stamp?

I'm sure Skoda UK would be interested to hear this.

Skoda's minor / fixed service is basically an oil and filter change for £139. This appears to mirror Park's Motor Group's 'silver' service for £60.

Skoda's major / variable service is the minor service plus air, fuel and pollen filters with some additional checks for £259. The looks to mirror the 'gold' service for £100.

Very good pricing but I am highly suspicious of why they feel they can offer to fit non-genuine parts. Why would a Skoda dealer need to do this when even most independant garages use genuine parts.

As you've mentioned the Scout's only need over and above the standard Octavia is that it needs the Haldex oil changing every 40,000 miles (pre-FL) or every 3 years (FL).

They stated it was to attract non Skoda customers and Skoda customers whose car was no longer under warranty who would otherwise go to an independent.
