Revo

Featured Replies

Anyone on here tempted by the offer from Revo, who are now offering map for CAVE and CTHE VRS Mk2? Claims of additional 20 to 40 bhp, bigger figures than that for torque.

I would be were it not for a recent engine change and warranty, and will admit to being overly cautious wondering if these engines can cope with much more but Steve Works from Revo assured me that the map would be safe during a conversation earlier in the week.

Just wondering who will be brave?

Maybe see if APR are doing an offer.

The engines can cope with it, well to around 210 is OK and should cause no issues. you are then on your own

and if you did get an Extended Warranty, forget that,

but the REVO Remap on the CAVE engines were rather gash.

Please ask Steve Works if they have it sorted out.

Can APR map the CTHE or is it just the older CAVE unit?

The link was added the other week were APR confirmed the CTHE can be done by the OBD port.

& a member posted that his was being done at 'Shark Performance'.

No no George you maybe misunderstand me, after getting to where we are with the car I'm reluctant to go anywhere near anything that would scupper the warranty or indeed the engine but wondered if some of the braver souls out there were contemplating getting it done?

Steve Works reckons the new map can cover CTHE and CAVE, I have no idea of history of these things but will ask him as suggested and let you know response. I'm a big fearty at the moment, happy to have car the way it is for now and not wanting to run the risk of footing a £4k replacement engine bill myself.

From what I've read replacement engines most of the time aren't the result of a remap. However, the remap will certainly void any warranty. On the other hand you do need to think about engine temperature and keeping it cool so upgraded FMIC is worth doing, cooler plugs and making sure the oil is at the correct level and not waiting for the light to come on. Unfortunately the un-luck of the draw.

Never heard of overheating of Twinchargers as being a problem in road use in the UK, even when remapped.

(there are burnt out valves and melting Spark Plugs in 1 particular cylinder, a Bigger Intercooler is unlikely to have prevented those.)

Oil Useage & Spark plugs & the fouling which can result is not an issue that a larger Front Mounted Intercooler is going to address or resolve in the UK for road use.

If you are talking Heat Soak & power loss and higher Air Intake Temps or Raised Oil Temps,

that is likely to be with Track Use, not on UK Public Roads.

& as for trial and error on spark plugs, that has been a cause of Engine Failures that has been something that has compounded

the Standard Design Issues with the Inlet Exhaust & Forced Induction.

True GoneoffSKi the FMIC isn't a must but doesn't do any harm. The whole point of the recommendation for cooler plugs from these tuning companies is to reduce engine temperatures of a remapped engine so FMIC could be a good option along with making sure the car has enough oil.

I read about a product you can add to the radiator water to keep that at a lower temperature, anyone tried it?

The REVO advice on which spark plugs to use on a 1.4TSI Twincharger 132-136kw minimum remapped by REVO was fair enough.

Only thing was, REVO forgot to say, the Spark Plugs might be OK, the Engine might be OK,

but the REVO Stage 1 REmap you had might not be, and you might still get issues.
