Octavia II 2.0 TDi - Central Locking Status Signal Wire.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to install an interior intruder detection system that will trigger an alarm and send me an SMS when some criminal b’stard attempts to break into my car again.

I figure that providing the car is locked, the only way a person can get into the car is by breaking something, and for the nay sayers: no it’s not possible for someone to listen to your keyfob code and clone it, nor is it possible for someone with some fancy electronic equipment to unlock your car without gaining physical access to the CAN-BUS.  What they can do is kill your keyfob RF signal, and if they do that, they have unfettered access to your car.

So the first thing I need to do is make sure that the car is locked, and to be frank, I am not 100% sure the car was locked when the criminal got away with my Columbus. I click the remote button as I am walking away from the car but I did not necessarily check that the hazards flash.  I say I did not, but I do now! I need an audible signal other than the chattering of door locks to indicate that the car is locked.  Does anyone know the ECU can be programmed to beep the horn when the car is locked?

For the interior intruder detection I intend to use a radar module and some electronics to activate an alarm siren and send an SMS.  I need a signal from activating the central locking to arm the alarm system.  Does anyone know if there is a signal I can tap into on maybe the convenience/comfort module that will indicate that the central locking has been activated?

By way of an ending note, I have considered getting a Skoda alarm fitted, however, apart from being very expensive and not great value for money; it does not give me the SMS bit, which I want to extend into GPS locator as a part 2 to this project.

Thanks

Colin
