So am I right in thinking no one has ever changed there air filter on there Vrs octavia ?

Definitely more than two screws, the air box on mine has about 10 captive screws holding the lid on.

I carry out my own servicing as far as air filters are concerned any way.

The air box has 10 torx/Allen key screws holding it together.

Undo these and pull the top half of the plastic air box off and voila your air filter is then exposed.

The air filter is the big black rectangle thing located to the right of the engine if your looking at it. Connected to the MAF sensor.

I'm surprised you only saw 2 screws as all the screws are evenly spaced apart and mirror one another.

Anything further info just ask :)

Are you talking about the seperate air filter in front of the battery or the older style unit that was incorporated into the engine cover?

Did you try googling for a how-to on you tube?

Is your car a petrol or diesel??

Are we talking the cabin filter/pollen filter up under the passenger footwell? they have 2 screws then you have to slide it left or right and pull it out...

You would need to be mortally blind and in need of a specsavers visit if you could only see 2 screws holding the engine air filter housing on!!!

No. However the air cleaner cover on my 09 Elegance diesel is held on via 8 torx screws.

The filter housing is a large L shaped plastic box (in plan view) between the battery and the front of the car. Do you have that?

Jeezus guys come on, on an 08 tfsi the air filter is inside the engine cover, you have to remove the whole thing to get to it and it can be a right pain to get off.

Search here and Google for "tfsi engine cover removal".

Apologies and good luck with what may be a trickier job than the later version.

Indeed!  That's why I asked but he never actually answered the question.
