fabia monte carlo drl's blowing fuse

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I am needing a little help.

I have just bought the wife a 12 plate monte carlo and the day time running lights fuse keeps blowing.

Does anyone now if there is a common fault why this keeps happening?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry i thought a Monte owner might have answered by now.

I do not think it is common except where someone might have installed totally the wrong bulbs, or there is a short.

Monte owners will be along to help soon hopefully.

I have a monte but never had that issue, maybe it's worth checking they're the right bulbs and they haven't been changed to something unusual or tampered with. Nothing else i can think of, sorry and good luck with it

I change my DRL bulbs frequently and have never had an issue with the fuse. I don't believe it is a common fault. There are many threads on Monte DRL'S and I follow most of them and haven't come across this. Sorry it doesn't give you an answer as to what's wrong.

As above check the bulbs and also make sure there is no water on the connections, the correct bulbs may have been replaced but not seated correctly.

thanks for your help guys.

I have now found the fault.

It is the near side wires coming off the unit what has rubbed through on a bracked..

I know very late but just final found the same issue, rubbing on the horn bracket gave a very intermittent short. Thanks for your post on this to point me in the right direction.

Hopefully just to aid any owner. If you are having grief with these bulbs also check the actual bulb holder as these melt and may cause the fuse to blow. These are constantly on but some models have the option to be switched off. A dealer technician decided to just change the bulb on mine only for the fault to flash up on the dash and on discovery in seeing moisture in the lens. I investigated and due to the seal being distorted due to excessive heat thus letting in water I dismantled myself and replaced the unit and bulb. Dried out the lens now all ok. Attention to detail with stealers and thier 'fully trained' 'technicians' worries me as the new bulb fitted was destroyed.
