VCDS Help needed in Kent area

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondered if there was anyone who could help me out.

I am retrofitting bluetooth to my VW Caddy (I know its not a Skoda but its the same VCDS system, just in the process of selling my fabia vrs) and was wondering if any VCDS owners in Kent or nearby could help with coding it to the van as it isn't activated as far as I know. Am obviously willing to pay a small fee if need be. Any help is massively appreciated.

I'm in Hawkinge Chris if that's any use?

yeah, Hawkinge is good for me. Just have to arrange when is good for both of us if thats ok with you. I haven't installed the bluetooth yet but will be doing it this week so i'll let you know when i have. Ill post on here. Thanks. How much do you want for doing it?

I do not charge per se, but ‘a drink’ doesn’t offend

I tried to PM you last week, not sure if you got it but i have got the bluetooth installed now and it works fine through the head unit. There are a couple of things that don't work like seeing the track name displayed on the head unit and being able to skip through tracks on the head unit. Is this where the re coding using vcds would help? I am a total novice with this sort of thing so excuse my ignorance. I also have a "lighting error" dash warning light on as my interior lights aren't working (think i did something when installing the microphone) would this need to be cleared for the lights to work again as i have checked the fuse and changed the bulbs and they still don't work. Thanks again for your help on this, like i said i don't know much about how all this works.

Sorry I missed the PM as I was out of the country.

Make sure you have not dislodged the plug for the interior lights, VCDS could possibly pinpoint the issue, but TBH i would say it’s going to be the main overhead interior light.

Not sure why the track info is not showing maybe a firmware issue? (I’m not up to speed on the Columbus firmware) normally they only need coding for the maxidot display to read the same info as what can be shown on the Columbus screen.

It used to work in my old skoda and display track info but that had controls on the steering wheel so not sure if it is due to the van not being coded for that.

I checked the connection for the light and there is power to it as i checked it with a volt meter. and i checked the contacts in the light and they show voltage too. its puzzling me as both the cab light and the light in the storage bay aren't working but have power going to them. May be an idea to get it on vcds and pin point the error.
