VRs rear calipers

Featured Replies

I have come to the conclusion the rear calipers are sticking as the hand brake is useless and the driver side wheel was hot a couple of days ago.

I have been looking for replacements and researching old topics on here. What I can not find a definitive answer to is whether there is a difference between the green painted calipers and the non painted such as in the below link

http://www.vwspares.co.uk/fabiabrakes.php

I would rather get the non painted ones and save a load of money if it is just a lick of paint for almost twice the cost.

Can anybody advise or links to recommended places to order replacement rear calipers?

Car is an 05 VRs.

Thanks in advance

Hi se6

I replaced the rear offside caliper when it began to leak late last year. I got a non-painted caliper from stock from Eurocarparts the same day. Fitted and bled the system using an Eezibleed and it's been fine ever since.

I'd previously had the 'sticking caliper/hot disk' issue before but that too has been fine since.

The calipers listed in the link you posted are correct for your car. Here's a link to the caliper I used - http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2005/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133442190&1&0be25dec5ccc1b9814d29b0d859e91dc9b71ce6b&000048

One further thing to watch out for is not over tightening the banjo bolt where the hydraulic hose connects to the caliper. The new caliper will come with 2 new compression washers for this.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks Alan, appreciate your reply.

Does anybody know if the TRW BHN275 & BHN276 calipers fit? I have emailed a couple of sellers but with it being a Sunday nobody has got back to me as yet.

Hi again se6.

Seems no one else is able to confirm your choice of caliper!!

I had a bit of a search and found this link - http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/#!/shop/SKODA/FABIA/03-07/FABIA%201.9%20TDi%20VRS/Rear%20-%20Brake%20Calipers%20and%20Wheel%20cylinders

You'll note that the parts are listed for a vRS 2003-2007. The part numbers are the same apart from the letters on the associated parts which I'm certain refer to the different colours alone.

As I said before the calipers you link to TRW BHN275 and 276 will fit your car. I considered those myself but could get the one I needed from Eurocarparts quicker. That's the only reason I went to them.

Only other thing I can suggest is to wait now until tomorrow and give vwspares a phone.

Let us know how you get on.

Good investigation skills!

I will give them a call tomorrow to confirm but it's looking like they are going to be the right ones.

Thanks again, will update once I have an answer

Well I had it confirmed from 2 separate sellers that

TRW BHN275 & BHN276

are the correct calipers for the VRS so I have ordered a pair from a seller on eBay for £75 for the pair.

Hi Se6

Glad you got the information/confirmation you were looking for and that is a very good price for a pair of calipers!!

Remember a bit of polythene under the brake fluid reservoir cap before you crack open the banjo bolt and you'll not lose much fluid. It's an idea to prime the new calipers with new brake fluid too before fitting.

Hope the fitting of them goes OK.

Alan
