Fabia Monte Carlo delivered, first impressions.

Featured Replies

The moment I hung up with esure to renew my policy, our new Fabia's rocked up. Hers in estate form and a lovely colour of salt and **** from the road. Mine, which is white, had faired better with just salty looking black wheels. Nothing new, my Octavia was a pig to clean.

So deals done, Octavia VRS traded in, £2k equity split over a 61 plate 105tsi hatch for myself and a 14 plate 105tdi tech for the wife.

First impressions are I love small cars and miss my small hatches immensely. Second thoughts were, where's the torque? The difference between a 170hp diesel and a 105hp petrol are immense, almost gutless starting off. Third thoughts were that I love maxidot and love Bluetooth, but miss the Octavia's stereo.

Having driven a massive 15 miles in the car, I can say that it definitely doesn't go like a steam train but has a very cheeky sense to driving it. I don't know what it is? It's brisk, pulls well when revved and generally picks up well. I'm really loving the fact I can kick the arse out of it and really have fun without getting into massive numbers on the speedo. The seats are eternally more comfortable than the VRS and the agricultural diesel sound is swapped for a lovely little purr from the little petrol unit. The boot is easier to shut, the car hasn't got a galactic turning circle and feels like a little go kart that is generally more refined (bar the ****ty light gear changes which are awful in comparison to the Octavia)

So what to do now? I could do with another 20hp to be honest. Just a bit to make it feel less ragged when acccelerating hard and drag it through the revs a bit faster.

Rear drums are in need of a bloody good paint.

Not sure what else? Speakers I can't really be bothered with changing and prefer OEM parts in cars.

Good car, happy I got it!

Could get a Bluespark tuning box for around £150 that adds around 20-30bhp and improves torque, read up on them, quite a few threads on here. I would buy one myself if i had money spare for one...
