Good luck with the Golf matey! They are lovely cars so enjoy :-)

Skoda cant make a car to keep me happy, they think we all want little engines and only drive about town, well its their loss

So true. Don't know where they're going with this overpriced brand [emoji57]

I think you have done well to last 3 years. I can honestly say I would have dumped it after 3 weeks if it turned out to be an oil drinker.

Sad to see you drop it but perhaps for the better!

Not sure why you stayed with VAG as Skoda and VW are virtually identical under the skin...

well i did think long and hard but my mk1 was 7.5 years trouble free so i just couldn't label them all bad and to be fair ive said i actually love the little car even with its faults

Trolling the tinternet theres faults with everything you can buy so im just keeping my fingers crossed that this car lives upto my mk1 and if not then i get a dealer that actually cares, we can only live in hope

Had merc dealer come back sooner i might have had an A200 but snooze you lose i guess

True, all things mechanical are prone to failure :) As long as you are going in with your eyes wide open and your head screwed on tight there will be no failed expectations and you will end up one happy driver. Stay around and let us know how are you getting on with your Golf GT!

Enjoy the new car.

Is it a 1.4 TSI 150ps ACT  or the Diesel & did you go with DSG ?

well i did look at the 1.4 tsi but with no demonstrator to try i thought better of it so i went with the 2.0 TDi, finances just couldn't stretch to the DSG though, i know im gonna miss that :( maybe next time

Good luck with it. I won't be Skoda for much longer either but mine has been a pretty good one. I'll miss it when it goes. It covers ground very well when required.

Sorry your leaving the fold but who can blame you? I can't imagine driving a car and constantly wondering what level the engine oil is at

You are so right about all cars having faults. It so happens Skoda have less faults than most. It also happens the Golf is a cracker of a car but with the rumblings regarding the 'big diesel con' I'd be wary of buying a new diesel. If the government do take the line that diesel is causing health issues they may well tackle it by upping the costs to drive a diesel car.

I hope it's not the case and that you get many years of happy motoring.

Harry.
