Finding possible intake leak - VCDS Scan

Hi all,

 

I'm looking for some advice on tracing engine problems on a 2006 VRS TFSI. It wasn't boosting - so I tried the usual suspects of changing the DV (for a new rev G) and the PCV (for whatever the latest revision of that is). Anyway, it wasn't until I got it scanned that I found there was a code for the manifold pressure / boost pressure sensor which wouldn't clear. Upon investigation I found that the sensor had been left unplugged by whichever useless garage had last worked on it, so I plugged it in and there was boost!

 

However after driving for a bit and rescanning I have a new set of (presumably boost related) fault codes. The scan log for the engine is as follows:

There are no other relevant fault codes stored. Looking through the Rosstech wiki, it seems that the root cause of most, if not all, of the codes is the "Leak in Air Intake System". It would make sense that this could then cause the bank 1 system too lean at idle and thus the idle control system rpm too high. Although the fuel measuring system malfunction is a bit worrying.
 
Anyway - doe anyone have any ideas as to how to go about locating this leak in the air intake system, or is it an investigation job for a garage (it was only with them last week to change the thermostat!)?

So I've just had the engine cover off and investigated around the hoses with the engine running. It seems that as well as replacing my PCV, I should have also replaced the PCV plastic pipes as the long one seems to be leaking where it goes into the engine under the manifold (the idle goes crazy when I wiggle it). So a visit to TPS, and I'll replace both of the pipes and hopefully it'll be sorted (although getting the old one off at the bottom looks a bit tricky). If anyone knows the part numbers for the two plastic hoses that connect to the PCV that would be appreciated.

 

On a worrying note, I also noticed that my alternator housing is cracked - one of the four mounting brackets has sheared off. It's a fairly impressive thickness of metal to break, but the fatigue due to engine vibrations won't have helped. I'll have to try some epoxy weld as a temporary fix.
