FL vRS - xenon and auto light options

Featured Replies

In the 2012 brochure, light assistant/auto-dimming mirror/rain sensor is a £175 option on the vRS, xenons were £760.

Xenon option on Elegance, 4x4 and Scout was only £655, so was the rain/light sensor ever thrown in with the xenon option? Was sure I read that on here some where.

Edit: I mean, was the rain/light sensor ever thrown if the vRS xenon option was selected?

On my 2009 vRS the sensor and lights were separately chargeable items.

My 2010 vRS was also separate options for Xenon and light/rain sensor (i know as i have xenons, but no light sensor)

I think the difference in price may be down to the washers - the elegance had them already (not sure about 4x4 and scout though)

So that's 2009 & 2010 covered. Mine is a 2011 and I too had to have Xenon's and the "Light/Rain Sensor, Auto-Wipers, Dimming Mirror" as seperate, chargeable options.

Thanks for the replies, spotting xenons on used vRSs is quite easy; squinting at Autotrader photos to see the shape/position of the rear view mirror mount is more difficult!

Don't forget that headlamp washers was also an option that could throw you!

Yes, read that recently too. Instead I've been looking for the notch in the outside edge of the projector lamp housing as a sign of AFS.

So many of the vRSs for sale are standard spec only, having to play a waiting game for something worth a visit

I didn't even realise the headlight washers were an option on the vRS. Certainly from the catalogue I built my car from it was Xenon's with the washers or no-washers. No "washers only" option.

Hmmmm. Will check later.....

If you have Xenons I think you have to have headlight washers - legal requirement?

My '12 Elegance has them, and a dipping mirror, and rain sensors, but the lights don't have an automatic setting.

I can't find the relevant brochure but the 2007 and 2011 brochures are exactly as you say.

Washers as a standalone option have never been available but were included as standard on the Elegance, 4x4 & Scout.

Ok, so here's a real example to ask about...

No xenons here that I can see, but the rear view mirror looks like it has a sensor. Would it be right to say at minimum this has a rain sensor and then depending on what was spec'd, it could also have auto lights? No photo of the headlight switch to confirm auto lights unfortunately.

If there is a sensor on the window then it will have rain and light sensor.  No Xenon's on that though which is a shame considering the rest of the spec!

Headlight washers were never an option on the VRS.  You either got normal lights and didn't get them or Xenons and got them.

You only get the Multifunction wheel if it has Bluetooth to so there is another tell for you!
