No power, turbo not coming in...

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, The turbo is not coming in on my '05 Octavia Tdi. The hoses to and from the intercooler are getting hard. Is this normal? The diagnostic codes coming up are 18000, 16621, 17911. I already changed the boost pressure sensor for a second-hand one but no difference. I wonder if it could be the MAF meter? If I get a new one does it have to be programmed or does it just plug in and work? I have been told that the wiring from the MAP sometimes breaks. In which general area does this break happen though? Any help would be appriciated. John.

Could this be another start to a thread about EGR's & VNT vanes being stuck?

im sure there many other things that stop the turbo spooling up.

Have you checked all the vaccum hoses? all the Intake ductwork joints?

I have a 2005 TDI had VNT problem, then IC Unzipped.

I have not had any issues with MAF yet though.

You could always Disconnect the IC and Flush it through in situ to see if it is dirty, im sure that over time it gets gunked up.

its worth splitting some of the hoses off to gauge how much oil is in them especially the IC hoses which might give you an indication of the cleanliness of the intake system.

you could also use a can or 2 of Wynns EGR cleaner sprayed into the system from the airbox to at least clean some of the residues from the ducting and impeller of the VNT on the inlet side etc.

Well I changed the air flow meter and the turbo boost sensor with no difference to the turbo power. Anyone have any ideas where I go now? There is no 12v live feed to the boost sensor (map). Should there be one and if so which of the 4 wires should have 12v?

Regards;

John.
