Non Skoda main dealer servicing

Featured Replies

For a new car or car still under warranty is it acceptable to have ones Skoda serviced as say Audi or VW and still retain the warranty?

Also would said garages be prepared to carry out servicing/warranty work or will they just direct you to the nearest Skoda dealer?

Would imagne that warranty work needs to be directed to a skoda main dealer, however you can get your car serviced where you want while the car is under warranty (and retain the warranty) so long as the garage where it is serviced it vat registered - can even be your local garage, not neccessarily a main dealer of some sort ie audi/vw et

I would advise you to have your servicing done at a VW Dealership Workshop rather than a Skoda one,

you might find the Cost is Less on Minor & Major Services, and the Software Updates can be done.

You can also find Independents with the VW / Skoda VAS System for the Diagnosis.

They pay for a Licence to use it.

You can use a VAT Registered Garage and OEM parts, but you need to really be able to trust them.

My local independent warned me that the burden of servicing evidence in case of a warranty claim is very high. All parts must be original Skoda parts, detailed invoices kept by the independent, procedures and job detail must be shown to be the same as a dealer. Also, the additional "secret service bulletins" cannot be accessed. Independents dont have the official diagnostic computers or access to manufacturer firmware updates etc etc etc. In all he said, in theory yes, in practice you risk warranty problems.

I'm not really looking to use an Indy; just looking to avoid my local skoda branch as it's a bit of a crappy dealership like the one that time forgot. Whereas our local VW dealership is great and has a soiid reputation.

There are Specialist VAG Independents that get the TPI's and have the Software & can Service, and can

advise you to go to Skoda / VW / Audi /Seat Dealerships if Warranty Repairs are required.

Often 'Factory Trained or Main Dealership Trained Technicians', that care about Customers.
