Key fob remote suddenly not working

Featured Replies

My 06 Fabia have 2 key fobs, 1 working 1not, didn't bother to re-program the dead 1 until today, the good 1 just suddenly decided not to work as well. So I changed new battery for both key fobs, the led flashes, but both keys are not locking or unlocking the car. I've tried to program it using vag-com and by putting one key in the ignition switch and one key in the door and turning it to the lock position etc. No luck. Whenever I used vag-com I tried clearing the stored value by going into Adaption46, then channel 00, read, save, but then whenever I went to channel 01 it still shows the stored value as 1. And I even changed channel 01 to value 2, test, save, come back, still shows 1! Also after I try programming via vag-com I get a code 01179 - Incorrect Key Programming.

These keys are the original one, and Immobilizer seems fine as not flashing icon and car starts fine, just the remote that's not working.

Any ideas? Please help, even with 1key fob working is fine by me.

Thanks a lot.

Alarm "backends" are about £25 off eBay. Check the part numbers match.

It's the 2 buttons one, just like a normal key, not flip one
