I have a concern that the vRS we have just ordered (was sitting as mandatory on SLI) will not have Cruise fitted and have asked the dealer for the build week in 2014 it was built in.

 

Just how long do they sit around for?  After the massive waiting times for vRS and other Mk3 Octavia, do they now just build cars in common specs and allow them to sit until the innevitable sale from a dealer?

 

My Mk2 FL superb must have been sat for a good while as the inners of all brake discs were badly rusted.

 

Can anyone advise please?

Very unlikely to have been built long ago, SUK dont sit on alot of stock and make sure they get moved pretty quickly.

If you are that concerned just factory order one, but be prepared to wait a few months not a few days/weeks for it.

Cruise in fairness is an easy retrofit anyway...you could insist the dealer finds out if they have it, if they cant answer just say its part of the deal and will have to be fitted at their cost if it arrives and is missing.

My opinion on that would be to plead a bit of ignorance, as far as you are concerned you are buying a brand new car at this years spec, they haven't told you its been sat around for 6 months or so, so there for you should be right to expect this years model and things like cruise to be standard, if they aren't then get them to retrofit or order you a new factory order, its the sam price.

 

As for what they have lying around, could be anything, I guess Skoda UK do a bull order of what they think people will want to buy in the near future, but its not in there interests to have things lying around too long, so hopefully it will be a relatoively new car and will have all that you want, and most importantly, enjoy the car!!

Dealer has confirmed it to have been built in week 42 so should be all ok with the cruise issue.  Still will have been sat around for around 4.5 months before i get it though!

Some people waited more 4.5 months for their vRS's to be built so, you pays your money and you takes your choice !!!
