On holiday at the moment but back tomorrow when I last drove the wifes micra 1.0 auto 1998 noticed temp gauge never moved from cold and was running for at least 30 mins normally goes to half way and stays there in about 5 mins wife now says car was not getting warm to defrost windows properly . Is first call thermostat any help would be appreciated thanks andy

I'd say thermostat or Coolant Temperature Sensor for sure.

For that money it's the place to start. Just make sure you get all the bits out if the old one's broken up rather than stuck open.

I've got a Haynes for it. I might be able to find the right pages and send it over email or something.

I'll have to have a look for it later. I scrapped the car last week.

Sorry for the delay, I've not been well. Chapter 3 of the haynes manual covers heating, cooling and ventilation and refers to a 'thermostat'. If you want it I'l need an email address.
