squeaking sound coming from rear drivers side

Featured Replies

Hey guys. The last week or so I've noticed a squeaking sound coming from rear of car. Usually when going over speed bumps or potholes etc. You think it could be the suspension that's gone? Only just over 3 years old, so will be a bit miffed if it is that :-( (Vrs estate) cheers

You will maybe need to do some maintenance and lubrication and inspection.

Check things out, and see if the Damper is OK.   Or you need someone you can trust to, because

the Dealers Service does not do much in the way of that.

check the bit where the back seat fastens in the upright position, make sure its well lubed ( oh er misses ) as it might just be that

Is it the roller? That covers the boot. My Octavia sounded the same. Pain in the arse.

Thanks guys I will check out all of the above. I'm off work Tues so I'm goING to empty the boot completely, including taking spare wheel out etc and will see if it still squeaks. I have had the seats folded down a lot recently so will check the locking bar like you suggested.

Try wrapping electrician's tape around the door catch on driver's side rear door, this cured the rattle I had.

I just turn the stereo up on mine.

Very strange. Cleared the boot out and it was still doing it. Yet yesterday the noise completely stopped. Driving around the same roads, same bumpS, same speed. No squeaking at all. Hmm

I had a similar experience recently. There is usually just two of us in the car but had relations visit and went 4 up on a few journeys. There was this horrible creak every time we went over a bump or rough ground, I was certain it was from the suspension, extra weight and all that.

After much searching it turned out to be nothing more than the parcel shelf. A simple re jiggle of the shelf in the carriers and all was well.

Hope you find your's is nothing more.

Moral of this story......check out the simple things before dismantling the car.

I had an intermittent squeak from NSR. I found it was one of the rubber bootlid stops that needed slight adjustment. Easy fix

Does sound disappear after it has rained, if so, it will be tied in with the rear suspension moving parts.

Springs, rubbers, anti-roll bar/bushes etc etc..
