Climatronic blower motor not working at all

Featured Replies

Evening folks

Just got back from seeing my mum and looking into the reason for her car not warming up properly, as she put it.

It turns out that the climatronic blower for the vehicle cabin isn't blowing at all. No matter what setting the system is on - even if the windscreen demist is selected - there's no blown air entering the cabin.

I've checked the fuse (39) and it seems OK.

Are there any other areas I should be looking at now?

regards

P.

Further thought: does the climatronic system use a resistor pack like the normal multi-speed fan set-up?

Normally a failed resistor blows on speed 4. Is the motor getting power? Have you taken the motor out and tried it on the battery?

Not yet. The car is about 60 miles away from me, so I would like to try to identify possible causes and have the necessary parts to hand once I have the car partly dismantled.

However, i may just need to bite the bullet and get in there, and go from there.

2 lengths of wire and a multimeter is a start. Also what car is it?

There's a thermal fuse on the end of the resistor pack I think. Check continuity through that.

I've ordered a resistor pack and will have a closer look at the situation this weekend. Thanks for the input so far.

Turns out that the climatronic system has an integrated resistor pack that's fitted into the fan housing but is not separately replaceable. Looks like the local Skoda dealer is the next port of call...

The resolution to this was interesting. It turned out that the vehicle had been fitted with an incorrect blower assembly at the factory (the one fitted was for a left hand drive car), and the dealer replaced it, reassembled everything and made no charge for it at all, saying they would recover the money from Skoda,

To say we were delighted would be an understatement.
