track rod ends

Featured Replies

So after fitting track rod ends the wrong way and causing £1200 of damage (dealer paid!)the dealer has come back with the offer of a free valet! No chance !as compensation any thoughts guys?

I really believe that you should Make Skoda UK FULLY aware of all the facts of this case without delay. The message must be made clear to them that all their wonderful dealers are not what they believe them to be, and that they also have a duty to ensure quality of work throughout their dealerships.

To me it seems that your dealer is trying to 'nicely' back away from this, by offering a totally inadequate response - in an effort to escape any liabilities.

Honestly - how can you be so devoid of straight mechanical knowledge to be able to fit track rod ends the wrong way - and be employed in a garage? The operative needs to be severely disciplined or even sacked.

He (and the company) placed your safety in jeopardy, and no one monitored the mechanics work (I use the word mechanic loosely).

In an effort to substantiate your case, I would suggest that you let them know of your disappointment with their response, and intend as a consequence to seek legal advice to ascertain the true value that you should realistically receive. Do not loose sight of the fact that in making an offer of a free valet - this response is an admission of their liability in this matter.

I bet they charged you full retail rate, despite using an obvious amateur to do the work!

Good luck
