Mrs Pasty's Fabia was left in her work car park for 2 weeks while she was away on business.

Upon her return starting was a serious struggle as you'd expect but it cruised the 30 miles home no problem.

She used it the next day to pop into town a round trip of 20 miles again no problem.

that afternoon though parked outside on the drive the alarm start going off.

Stops upon unlock but goes off again once locked.

she gives up and locks it in the garage unlocked.

I come to have a look at it the next morning and it's locked itself (or she did it without thinking) but the alarm hasn't gone off again and it starts almost on the button.

I run it around and it starts fine, and all seems to be well, but just in case i take it to a tyre and battery place to be tested.

"77% sir so not great but no need to replace unless it really won't start"

hmm second opinion - off to Kwikfit.

"26% sir it'll need replacing"

hmmm third opinion then at another tyre place

"seems to be holding charge fine must just be the cold weather"

eh?

i'll accept that after 2 weeks sat still and couple short runs - in the dark, with the heater and the radio on, it might be lacking charge causing the alarm to trip but is it likely to have recharged itself after a couple more short runs?
