Quick question about power steering fluid

As I told you, even here where Skoda is very popular, I couldn't find the part elsewhere besides the main dealer (even so, not on stock, waited few days to arrive). Reason for this could be that is not a common wear part, low demand for it, not enough aftermarket suppliers/interest.

Price might be just a consequence of that as well.

I didn't see any o-rings on it, leakage is happening at the rubber/metal insertion, so patching up don't think will hold either. I asked my mechanic as well after finding out the price for the new part and he told me no patching/mending options will hold.

If you plan to keep the car for some time, I would suggest to change the part, even if it's quite expensive. Regarding how many miles will hold up as it is depends on the rate you are loosing the fluid, however there is no guarantee it will not burst suddenly at some point. Just my opinion.

So i didn't go ahead and order original replacement. I thought there's got to be some other ways. Indeed there was.for less than €100 i got the hose refurbished by hydraulic specialist.Fitted nice and leak free.i strongly suggest anyone facing this problem to go down this route.

but,here's the plot twist.during drive home after fitting the hose,occasionally the steering lost assistant for about a second and then comes back.air inside system? Pump going bad?

Here's an update. The pas is working perfectly now.glad the fix worked

Glad to hear you sorted out cheaper than the original. In my case the leak was at the other end of the pipe which was too tricky to repair and not recommended for the system pressure integrity.

Hope you won't have any issues with this fix...
