engine management light

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have a 2010 Octavia and recently i have started having problems with engine management light ..somebody told that my dpf was gone and that it would need to be replaced but the dpf light never once came on

I have used the Wynn's particulate filter cleaner didn't seem to do much

She is booked in to be looked at next week but there is a few things annoying me

1,i have heard a lot say she will go in to limp mode but i still have full power

2.the light can some time go off for days and then suddenly comes back

Any help appreciated

Read Fault Memory first ;)

Pointless thread until the code has been checked with VCDS or similar, the car will know why it is throwing the light.

Just wanted a bit of info or see has anybody come across the same issue

,spoke to Skoda mechanic when i was booking in and he reckons the job will cost  €900 euro plus €75 for diagnostic seems a bit saucy just to have the dpf re energized as he says

Hi,

As others have said, it'll need the fault codes read first.  I had a similar issue with the coil symbol light illuminating for varying periods but the car staying out of limp mode.  I was fearing a DPF issue but it turned out to be a broken sensor wire - fixed under warranty.  Hopefully your issue will be similarly minor!

Kind regards

Welcome to the site BTW.

He can't speculate on the cost until he has checked the car, I would expect the DPF light on if that was your cause.

Yeah i'm kinda hoping that it is just broken sensor or connector issue and won't take much fixing .car is due  in on the 27th so any info i get i will certainly let ye know what was the result
