VW problem

Featured Replies

So my mrs has a mk6 VW golf, 1.6tdi.

I just serviced it for the second time since we got it. Did the lot, all filters, oil etc.

when you do the fuel filter I used a battery to purge through the fuel system to refill it prior to starting. Engine fired up no problem, then cut out after about 10sec and won't restart. Have done a code scan and it has no fault codes!

Any advice appreciated.

It depends on the car model and engine - and you usually find it in something like the front of the Hayes Manuals. IIRC for a diesel it is about 2yrs or 40k miles, but I think mine was very dirty at a lot lower distance than that (running on supermarket fuel)!

Probably every 2nd or 3rd 10k miles engine oil change would be OK if that does not stretch over too long a time period - others may however wish to  correct me on this!

Seems like air in the system, is there a bleed screw
