Can you get a good MkII 2.0 vRS for 3K?

Featured Replies

Hoping the collective will have some informed opinions.

Preferably:

Combi (estate)

Petrol

DSG (automatic)

<100K miles

Looking for something in good, working mechanical condition but possibly with damaged bodywork hence low price.

I can live with dented wings etc as long as the underlying motor is sound, when you're inside you can't see it anyway!

I've always been a diesel estate guy but want the extra go of the 200bhp petrol and an auto as I'm getting fed up with the gear changes in today's congested, mini roundabout infested and pot hole ridden roads.

You'll be lucky.

The demand for the MkII vRS has shot through the roof recently with the (prohibitively) high cost of the new MkIII vRS.

By asking for a petrol limits your choice even further, most are diesel.

By asking for an estate does the same, most are hatchbacks.

By asking for DSG does the same, most are manual.

After you then add in a budget of less than £3K means choice will be severely limited.

A quick search on Autotrader shows the cheapest listing is £8,495...

Stump for a hatch with a manual box and you get down to £2,695, but with close to 180,000 miles under it's belt...

Or there is this one which is bang on budget at £3K with 100K miles on the clock...

At that price it might be a cat c.

VRSs getting slightly silly money right now. Good if you're selling admittedly.

Not a chance

No mention of it being a Cat C, although a HPI check will soon pick it up.

It is one of the first MkII vRS's so it's on 17's and has no Climatronic , rear electric windows or central armrest.

But it's a manual.

Whats my 2013 diesel vrs estate manual worth then? any ideas? about 17000 miles in race blue?

Itl be a bag of bones for that money

Umm, that's the car I linked to in post #2  :D
