rear lights

Featured Replies

one of my rear light bulbs keeps going out , gentle tap and back on , are a couple of the rears leds or smaller bulbs etc, can get main 4 bulbs out easy but struggling to get to others without taking light unit out

looking at it again looks like light unit has to come out to gain access to bulbs , must be dodgy bulb holder has they soon come back on just annoying

Coming on when tapping may suggest a broken filament is remaking temporarily. Think the bulbs are easily replaced on FL ,from the inside of the boot, without tools required or removing the whole light unit. Check the on line manual page 268. Compare both sides when the bulb has failed. This will guide you as to which one has failed.

Which bulb is it?

This is from my estate, but the bulb configuration is similar, the four main functions / bulbs (brake/tail, indicator, reverse & fog/tail) are on the main bulb holder as pictured here:

The two smaller tail light bulbs (that join the top and bottom tail lights to create the Octavia's 'C' shape) are separate to the main bulb holder and are simply push fit. They are accessible without removing the whole light cluster but you do first need to remove the main bulb holder so that you can get your hand past it to reach them.

Here they are hanging loose on my estate, again the hatch is very similar...

its the smaller 4w version do they simply pull out from inside the boot , they seem very tight

thanks

sorted thanks they just pull out from the rear , new bulbs on order , thanks everyone

You think they were tight, wait until you have to try and get the front W5W side lights out at the front.

Be prepared for lots of swearing and scuffed knuckles!

Glad you got it sorted!
