vRS Security

Featured Replies

I'm seriously considering a Fabia vRS but wondered how much of a target they are for thieves. I suppose the question is "would you go shopping and park it down a side street for a couple of hours" or do you never let it out of your sight!

On a similar theme, would removing the vRS front and rear badges make it look like an ordinary Skoda and possibly less desirable. Actually I'd like to do this anyway because I just don't like standing out with a flash car. I'm just an ordinary bloke (who's first choice was/is a Toyota Corolla) with distant memories of an '86 XR2 who just wants a hassle free car with zip being a desirable option - but not at the expense of worrying about some scroat nicking it.

Think you should be ok with a Fabia VRS Ray! I often park in a street where i had TWO cars (both Astras) written off by vandals over the years, also several petty examples of vandalism too. I've had my Fabia VRS since mid-june now and no vandal attacks at all! Long may this continue!

I think you've just been lucky so far. I dont even think vandalism/attempted thefts are exclusive to 'flash/desirable' cars anymore. If some little t@sser wants to key a car or break a window they'll do it whether it be a Ferrari or a Cortina, and the same can be said for attempting to nick one for joyriding. Where my brother lives so many cars are keyed/stolen and it just happens to be a lottery I'm afraid, doesn't matter what you drive.

So, with that in mind I dont tend to relax much if i HAVE to leave it somewhere on the street/multistory car park etc. Luckily, I have a rather long driveway and I am out in the sticks, so the only threat to my car is stray cows.

My advice......proceed with caution, BUT try to enjoy.

It's a Skoda, who's going to want to nick it!

Chris

a few people on here have had the odd "keying" of their cars (me included) but alias that will happen to any car!

Tend not to leave it for too long but I've been like that with all my cars, its just what I'm like.

Though I dont have any worries about it being stolen or broken into

Group 9 insurance maybe answers your question.

If they were getting nicked all the time, I'm sure the Insurance rating and premiums would change!
