I recently drove an E-class Merc which can steer itself  when the radar cruise is active. You have to have your hands on the wheel at all times but even so it's a pretty weird experience.

Enabling social media updates?

The new volvo xc90's already have the tech built into them to do it, its just not yet refined enough for everything to work together,

 

We were told on MT seminar earlier this year they hope to have cars capable of doing it by 2020,

 

adaptive cruise control, lane assist, park assist pilot etc etc

 

They are already doing driveless tests on M6 in trucks

Watch out for the distracted 'passenger'!

I've seen drivers eating their bowl of cereal whilst driving in peak hour traffic BEFORE this tech.
