Diesel vrs cv joint help.

Featured Replies

Bought a outer cv joint for my 2008 diesel VRS. One big problem, the shaft won't go in the joint. The dimensions of the joint are fine, the external splines and size are correct. The amount of internal splines are correct but that's where the problem lies. The hole diameter is small than the one on the car. I can't seem to match the spec up with any listed joints for any Octavia including one listed for the vrs petrol, it has 30 int splines not 27. Any help or advice is much needed, wanted and very much appreciated.

Can't you get a part number of the old one?

Cv joint don't have there part numbers on them usually, it just normaly manafucturing codes and dates.

Surely a Skoda dealer would be able to advise on correct part.

I know most can be a bit cagey and won't divulge part numbers, if that's the case just ring round some other VAG dealers, I've used my local VW dealer many times when the Skoda dealers have clammed up when a sale sounded unlikely.

Their loss as I've had to buy genuine parts sometimes and the VW dealer is happy to take my cash and I'm happy(relatively) to give them it seeing how helpful they are, win-win situation and sadly Skoda miss out.
